Jes Dory’s ‘Isle’ Sends a Strong Message to Young Women

Novelist Jes Dory’s latest novel ‘Isle’ is a story of one girls struggle to understand and believe in herself. Set in a present day fantasy world,  Eleanora Ada Stone is a girl growing and learning how to navigate what is expected of her and what she feels is her path.

Dory was born in New Jersey and raised in the North East. She experienced the world and different cultures through travel with her parents. A RYT certified Power Flow Yoga instructor, Dory teaches in the Fort Collins community. With a BA in Communications/PR and a minor in dance from Montclair State University, Dory continued to write short stories and illustrate. A passion that started in 1996. Her love of story telling, character development and imagining the possibilities in the impossibilities is what makes ‘Isle‘ so powerful.

“Get out of your own way! The only one standing between you and your dreams is YOU.”

Isle‘ is a beautiful and strong novel, what inspired you to write it?

I pull inspiration from many, many sources. I am a visual writer so imagery is vital to my craft. Stepping into nature; the mountains of Colorado or the coast of Oregon is important to my craft. Other’s talented work; books, art, television shows, movies also help inspire me.

What message do you hope to send to young woman through your character Eleanora Ada Stone?

To be brave in all you do. To embrace your true self and own that beautiful individual thumb print of a soul you are.
