The 2017 MusiCares Person of the Year tribute concert honoring Tom Petty on Feb. 10 in Los Angeles will have no shortage of lady power, with Lucinda Williams, Elle King, Norah Jones, Regina Spektor, the Bangles, and Stevie Nicks lending their voices for the prestigious event. The star-studded roster also includes Jackson Browne, George Strait, Don Henley, The Foo Fighters, Jeff Lynne, Randy Newman, and Kings of Leon, amongst others. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, of course, will close out the evening.
There’s also a possibility that we’ll see a partial reunion of the Traveling Wilburys (although Bob Dylan is not currently listed among attending performers). The Traveling Wilburys was a group formed by George Harrison, which debuted in 1988 and included Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynn, Bob Dylan, and Tom Petty.
MusiCares is an organization that offers resources to people in music during times of need. MusiCares honors those artists who have made significant artistic and philanthropic contributions to the music community. Petty has been active in The Midnight Mission over the years, which brings music and awareness to homeless communities. The Midnight Mission honored Petty and his wife with The Midnight Mission Award in 2011.
Tickets for MusiCares start at $1,750 to $8,500, with VIP packages costing up to $150,000. The proceeds from the event will go to benefit the MusiCares cause. Individual tickets can be ordered by phone from Dana Tomarken at MusiCares: (310) 392-3777. VIP packages are available online, and must be reserved by Dec. 1. The event will take place two days before 2017 Grammy Awards. The tribute will also be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
