Watch: Joni Mitchell’s ‘Woodstock’ Live in 1970

Singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell wrote & recorded “Woodstock,” from her Ladies of the Canyon album, in 1970 from a hotel room in New York City. “Woodstock” has been famously covered by both Matthews Southern Comfort and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.”Woodstock” served as a b-side to hit single “Big Yellow Taxi.”

The song was inspired by the Woodstock Music & Art festival knowledge of then-boyfriend, Graham Nash, and television coverage of the festival, which Mitchell was unable to attend.
