I’ll set fire to the whole place
I don’t even care about our house
It’s not the same in here since he left anyways

Life is Strange is a first-person narrative video game series from Square Enix, Dontnod, and Deck 9.

A prequel to the first Life is Strange game, ‘Before the Storm’, was released on August 31st for PC, Playstation 4, and XBox One. ‘Before the Storm’ focuses on telling the story of Chloe and the original game’s missing girl Rachel Amber.

Music is a massive component of the Life is Strange games and really helps you immerse yourself into the world. The original Life is Strange soundtrack included songs by Amanda Palmer, José Gonzalez, and Angus & Julia Stone.

For the second installment, London indie band Daughter were given the chance to score the game.

In an article for Paste Magazine, Daughter’s Elena Tonra said of doing their first score: “It’s widened things and how we view how to create. I think you can become stuck in your ways in terms of the way you do things, so it’s quite nice to branch out, and I think we’ve done that.”

A proudly queer, freelance music journalist, Em splits her time between Durham and London. When she’s not at a gig, mouth-agape, she’ll be camped outside of a Parisian bistro taking photographs of strangers.

The little pleasures in life are the most meaningful to her: Her dog, family-and-extended, and Milkybar buttons.

Her motto — a snippet from Alexander Pope’s Essay on Man — is, “hope springs eternal.”
