The third album from punk rock band Blondie, Parallel Lines, was home to many of the band’s best-known hits. On October 30 of 1978, “Hanging on the Telephone” was released as the second single and peaked at number 5 on the UK charts. The song was originally released as the lead track on The Nerves’ EP two years earlier, but it was Blondie’s version that brought “Hanging on the Telephone” to the masses.
Parallel Lines solidified Blondie’s international success, reaching number one in the UK and number 6 in the US. Six singles were released including hits like “Heart of Glass,” “One Way or Another,” and “Sunday Girl.”
