Rhode Island Comic Con (RICC) is hailed as the largest con in the smallest state and offers fans the chance to meet and greet some of their favorite stars. Inspirer attended RICC which took place November 10-12 to highlight some of the badass women in attendance.

Sadie Sink

One of the most popular panels of the weekend was the Stranger Things panel featuring Sadie Sink (Max), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin). When Sink was asked what she hoped for in season three, she concluded that she would love to see Max and Eleven become friends.

“I’m doing what I love and that’s what’s important.”

When a young actor asked the cast for advice, Sink urged the fan not to give up and to learn how to handle rejection.

C.C.H. Pounder

There is no denying Pounder’s career has been long and varied. She has starred on shows such as The Shield, Warehouse 13, NCIS: New Orleans, and ER. During her intimate panel fans had the chance to learn more about her vast body of work.

“Joy should drive you. Always joy should drive you.”

“If it wasn’t for you none of us would be here today.”

Marina Sirtis talked about her time on The Next Generation “We didn’t know it at the time that we’d be making a show that would impact people’s lives in such a huge way. It’s one of the biggest blessings I think in my life, that I was in a show that touched so many people and meant so much to them, and if I never am known for another part the way I was known for Deanna Troi that would be enough for me – the fact I was on TNG.”

Gates McFadden

“I have learned enormously from even meeting fans and seeing the generations of people who have watched it as a family. I’m proud of the way it actually gives an example to all of us of how to think, how to listen, how to actually look at something.” (on Star Trek: The Next Generation).

Simone Missick

Simone Missick attended the convention with a few of her Luke Cage castmates.  When asked if she and her character have any similarities, she stated, “I like to have a good time and have a bit of lightheartedness – that is probably where Misty and I merge.”

Genghis Connie

Jade Wu plays Genghis Connie Lin on Luke Cage and also attended the Luke Cage panel.

“You are an actor. You’re not sort of an actor.”

Billie Piper is well known for her roles on Doctor Who and Penny Dreadful. During her panel, she took questions from the audience and offered advice to fellow actors.

Piper announced that the play “Yerma” will have a run in New York City in early 2018. Piper appeared in the play at the Young Vic in London for two runs and received rave reviews.

Music is a tool

A fan asked Piper if she relies on music to help her when she is preparing for a role. Music is something that Piper uses often and added: “I think most actors use music as a heavy tool…as an emotional tool.”
